Happy New Year!!! Thank you so much for spending 2014 with me. I’ll continue to bring you the nutrition news & recipes you need to know every Wednesday, round-ups on Thursdays, and more giveaways, recipes, and healthy lifestyle articles in the new year.
Today, rather than my usual roundup, I collected your top 10 favorite posts from 2014 and compiled the media work (articles, radio and books) that I did last year. Now you can see some of the work I’m doing when I’m not blogging! I hope you find at least one article that helps you meet your health goals in the new year.
Thank you again for supporting me by visiting my blog and sharing your enthusiasm for healthy living. I value and appreciate you, and wish you a happy, healthy new year.
xx,
Caroline
Readers’ Top 10 Favorite Blog Posts of 2014:
1. The 14 Foods You’ve Been Storing All Wrong: Definitely my most popular blog post this year. I wrote it for The Huffington Post a few weeks ago (I’m one of their featured bloggers), and it has been liked 44,000 times and translated into three languages. It was shared on Facebook nearly 16,000 times! If you think you’re storing cucumbers the right way, I’ll bet you’re wrong…
2. Your Ultimate Guide to No-Bake Bars and Bites: I’m not surprised we share an appreciation for easy to assemble healthy snacks that taste like dessert!
3. How Doing Dishes Can Help You Lose Weight: Self-control is like a muscle. And the more you use it, the more self-control you’ll have, and the easier it will be to exert it. In this blog post for The Huffington Post, I show you simple solutions for building self-control.
4. 25 Decadent-yet-Healthy Pumpkin Recipes: I realize that pumpkin recipes taste the best in the fall when we’ve waited a year for them, but pumpkin is healthy enough to include in your diet all year round. If you’re curious, here’s a CNN article on the 6 Surprising Health Benefits of Pumpkins (which I was quoted in!)
5. 25 Vegetarian Recipes Even Carnivores Will Love: I actively try to include one meatless meal a week, so I’m always looking for recipes to satisfy my husband and me – two happy carnivores.
6. Lighter Thanksgiving Recipes: 25 Sides and Desserts: Every dish on your Thanksgiving table doesn’t need to be healthy, but it’s good to have some options to balance out your plate.
7. Wheat Berry Salad with Butternut Squash & Warm Cider Vinaigrette (Vegan): I made this recipe for the Tufts Friedman School of Nutrition Science & Policy’s annual alumni e-mail, and was so happy with it, I wanted to share it with all of you too. It’s such a cozy salad, and tastes even better the next day.
8. 26 Recipes for a Fabulous Fall Cocktail Party: I love this roundup. It’s a great go-to resource if you’re having people over and want some healthy appetizer ideas!
9. 9 New Food Trends PLUS Recipes: My last roundup of 2014 was a preview of the hottest food trends of 2015, including matcha (two matcha bars opened up in NYC since posting), fermented foods, kalettes, and “new” ancient grains like kaniwa and teff. In the post, you’ll learn more about the ingredients and find recipes for how to cook ’em.
10. Oatmeal Cottage Cheese Pancakes: The iPhone photo is less than stellar, but the recipe is solid.
